I have a Mediterranean background, which means that however much I blot and powder my oily skin still shines through. I don't have a problem with my skin in terms of acne or blemishes; it's just the oil - lots and lots of oil. It's kind of like all the olive oil my ancestors ate is coming out in my skin!
The worst part about it (now that I am out of school and am no longer nick-maned olive oil) is finding good cosmetics for oily skin. Most of the foundations I have used which are meant for oily skin are simply too drying. I end up looking like I walked out of the house not realizing there was a pancake on my face. This is because most of the cosmetics for oily skin are really heavy duty. I don't need heavy duty, as I don't have much that needs covering, but the lighter foundations are all so light that they are just lost in all my natural oil. It can be very frustrating.
\"Makeup For Oily Skin\"
When I was younger I just used to go out looking like a pancake face, because I though at least it was better than being 'olive oil' but that's not really a solution for me, because I'm not happy having to have a caked on foundation look all the time. For a while I gave up on cosmetics for oily skin and just took loads of facial blotting paper with me wherever I went, but that wasn't a solution either.
When I got an invitation to my ten year high-school reunion, I was really keen to go looking for cosmetics for oily skin again, as I just wanted to show them all a non-olive oil me. It was on my search that I discovered airbrushing makeup. I had heard of airbrushing before, but thought it was just something that celebrities could afford until I saw an ad for Dinair home airbrushing kits. And it just so happened to be talking about cosmetics for oily skin and how airbrushing can provide the happy medium between perfect light coverage and oil absorbency.
After rushing out and buying one (I'd tried everything else, why not this too) I got it home and after a few goes to get the hang of the application system I realized with a rushing sense of relief I had found my solution. After all these years, and thousands of dollars wasted on useless cosmetics for oily skin I had found the perfect thing.
I tested it out one day by applying it in the morning and seeing how long I could go without the tell-tale shine through of my oily skin. It lasted all day, and into the night - so I knew I was ready to face my class-mates fresh faced and oil free.
At the reunion I had my moment of glory when one of the (meanest) girls from school asked me what my skin routine was because she thought I wasn't wearing any foundation. Now that is a testament to the perfect cosmetics for oily skin.
